The rapier loom uses two (or one) rigid or flexible “rapiers” and their “rapier heads” to perform weft insertion. The weft-feeding rapier on one side grips the weft yarn and feeds it into the shed from one side of the loom. At the center of the shed, it meets the weft-receiving rapier on the opposite side, completing the weft yarn transfer. The weft-receiving rapier then pulls the weft yarn out of the shed, concluding one weft insertion cycle.
